About Ian Greer

After leaving school at 15 Ian entered hotel kitchens as an Apprentice Chef and learnt and developed his craft and skills in the kitchens of Claridges W1 and the Imperial Hotel Torquay, and during his career has prepared and cooked for leading politicians, celebrities and even the Queen!

Becoming a Lecturer in Hospitality Studies Ian first taught students the skills and techniques of food preparation and cookery that for many of them led to a successful career in the hospitality sector. As well as teaching in England Ian has taught students in France, Netherlands, Poland, and the Ukraine. As a Consultant he has advised on Curriculum Innovation in Catering Studies in Egypt, Tanzania, Japan, Spain, Netherlands and Hungary where he established two Hotel Schools, and has worked closely with restaurants and hotels in the hospitality industry throughout his career.

 A member of the Institute of Hospitality, the Craft Guild of Chefs, and the Association & Consiel Culinaire Francaise, Ian also worked for many years for the City & Guilds of London Institute as an Examiner and Assessor for their Hospitality and Catering Qualifications. A judge at various cookery competitions, he has also won awards at International Salon Culinaires in Torquay and Hotelympia London. Ian also writes a regular “Dining-in” column for a leading newspaper.

During his management career in the Education Sector Ian managed the Training and Education of Vocational Programmes in two of the UK largest colleges of Further Education, liaising with government departments to implement policy and initiatives.

As a Senior College Manager Ian was responsible for the Quality Assurance for the Institutions working with and supporting colleagues in this field and ensuring transparent and positive co-operation with “Key-Stakeholders”.

Ian also worked for the Learning and Skills Council as a Quality Advisor to Colleges, Universities and Training Providers.
